Heywood Forest was the 73rd forest established by Roger Dickie (NZ) Ltd and is situated 35 km West of Gisborne on the Wharekopae Road. Heywood Forest adjoins Chatswood, Eastwood and Woodside forests.
In 2021 Heywood had an estimated net stocked area of 347 hectares. Having been planted in 2000, the main harvest is due to commence in 2028 with a smaller stand of older trees to be harvested when road-lining is undertaken in 2026. Harvest will likely take approximately 3 1/2 years. The harvested areas will be replanted each Winter.
